Edinburgh has high hopes of transforming itself into the Nice of the North, with ambitious plans for a waterfront walkway. The authority has pledged to build on its reputation as a global tourist attraction with a multimillion-pound regeneration scheme. The Edinburgh Promenade will stretch along a total of 10 miles, from Cramond to Joppa, along the Forth, and has been modelled on the waterfronts of Nice and Copenhagen. Edinburgh City Council's Cllr Tom Buchanan said: ‘The promenade will help connect the unique communities along our city's coastline, and provide an inspiring location for people to exercise, explore and enjoy the beautiful scenery in the locality.'
