The first of a series of core Modernisation, Communication and Reform Working Group meetings took place in the Northern Ireland Local Government Association (NILGA) offices on 1 September.

The NILGA working group agreed to draw up a programme encompassing key areas of modernisation and reform. However Cllr Myreve Chambers, chair of the working group, admitted that in the absence of decisions from the Northern Ireland Executive regarding local authority reform, the agenda remains uncertain.
