The LEP representing the North East this week reacted with joy at news that Nissan has agreed a deal to build a new compact car at Sunderland.

The local enterprise partnership (LEP) representing the North East this week reacted with joy at news that Nissan – a major employer in the region – has agreed a deal to build its new compact car at its Sunderland plant, potentially creating 200 jobs in the process.

Nissan approved the move after it received a conditional offer of Regional Growth Fund cash from business secretary Vince Cable.
