The new partnerships set up to boost England's regional economies have launched with gaps in their geographical coverage and warnings of indifference from business.
The 24 local enterprise partnerships (LEPs) announced last week include only one in the South West and one in the North East, even though the latter is set to be worst hit by public spending cuts. Of the eight core cities, only Newcastle has no LEP representation.
