North East mayor Kim McGuinness has warned parties fighting local elections in May of her ‘direct mandate' from the people of the region.

In an interview with think-tank Re:State's director of policy and research Simon Kaye, McGuinness was asked how potential change of political leadership on the councils that form her cabinet in May's polls could impact delivery for the combined authority.
