Veolia Environmental Services has won an £850m PFI waste-management contract with Nottinghamshire CC. The 26-year contract is the first waste PFI to be signed in England for two-and-a-half years and has been supported by both DEFRA and the Treasury. Under the contract, Veolia will invest £140m in new recycling, composting and treatment facilities. ‘This contract further increases our presence in the PFI market, where we have proven experience and expertise,’ said Veolia chief executive for the UK and Northern Europe, Cyrille du Peloux.
