Harrogate BC has appointed Wallace Sampson as its new chief executive. Mr Sampson has worked in local government for nearly 25 years, having started with Doncaster MBC in 1983. He also worked at Chesterfield BC and Kirklees MBC where he was head of revenues and benefits. He joined Bradford MDC in 2000 and, following a top management restructure in 2006, became strategic director of customer services. He replaces Mick Walsh who retired on 22 July. Mr Walsh said: ‘I have done a lot of homework on Harrogate and I got the sense it is a well-managed council - that is a credit to Mick Walsh and the members of staff there.'
