Oldham MBC's new chief executive has started work with the stark admission that he has ‘no illusions' about the scale of the task ahead. Charlie Parker, pictured right with Cllr Howard Sykes, was previously director of investment and performance at English Partnerships. He succeeds Andrew Kilburn, who has moved to the Waltham Forest LBC. Mr Parker said: ‘Crucially, one of the key issues for my involvement is the 2009/10 budget deficit and potential job reductions, and the approach of taking this forward in consultation with the trade unions, staff and partners.'
