The route for the London 2012 Olympics torch relay was announced this week.

Organisers claim 95% of the population will come within 10 miles of the torch's progress during a 70-day journey passing through more than 1,000 cities, towns and villages. Starting from Land's End, Cornwall, on 19 May, the torch will be transported some 8,000 miles before reaching the Olympic Stadium for the opening ceremony on 27 July.
