Ombudsman confesses to slow progress

Local Government Ombudsman, Anne Seex, confessed to MPs that her handling of cases was taking so long that it amounted to maladministration.

Local Government Ombudsman (LGO), Anne Seex, this week confessed to MPs that her handling of cases was taking so long that it ‘very probably' amounted to maladministration.

Clive Betts, chair of the communities and local government select committee, forced the startling admission from Ms Seex on 30 April – barely two weeks after ministers confirmed her role as vice-chairman of the Commission for Local Government in England.
