Councils could save £10bn a year if they improved the way they sourced and bought goods and services, research drawing on recently-published spending data has suggested.
A report by analytics expert, Opera Solutions, released by the Department for Communities and Local Government, suggested there was still a long way to go before local authorities could claim they had maximised their collective spending power on behalf of taxpayers.
