An influential Parliamentary committee has recommended commercial sensitivities should be overridden, allowing open scrutiny into contractual arrangements of firms providing public services.

The call from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) comes after its inquiry obtained evidence suggesting that excessive profit-making, and offshore tax arrangements, mean private finance initiative (PFI) deals ‘look like a better deal for the private sector than the taxpayer.'
