Opposition Labour councillors have dismissed Westminster City Council’s plans to bring in new Sunday and evening parking charges in the West End of London, which will raise an estimated £5.8m in revenue, as ‘highway robbery’.

Group leader Cllr Paul Dimoldenberg, said: ‘This is nothing more than a blatant attempt to raise more money to fill hopes in the council coffers. Basing finances on unpredictable levels of parking fines is contrary to sound business principles.'
