Local government contractor, Serco, has been selected to support the Aiming High for Disabled Children programme. The firm's Together for Disabled Children (TDC) partnership, which brings together Serco Education and Children's Services and national charity Contact A Family, will deliver the Government-backed programme's short breaks initiative. Aiming High for Disabled Children was launched last year and is a transformation programme for disabled children's services. Serco is also the lead partner in the Together for Children (TfC) consortium, which has been working with all councils on the Sure Start Children's Centre programme. ‘Serco has a strong history as a leading operator in the education and children's sector and this, coupled with Contact a Family's expertise in working with families of disabled children, will provide the perfect platform to deliver real results,' said national programmes director, Liz Railton. ‘The TDC partnership will work closely with the TfC consortium in order to maximise the existing experience of running a national delivery support programme which aims to develop integrated services across local government and health.'
