Three Surrey councils claim their plans for a new partnership could be scuppered by government bureaucracy. Mole Valley and Tandridge DC and Reigate & Banstead BC have created a formal partnership for shared service in areas such as IT, but fear the administration of the scheme by the local government office might be so bureaucratic it would prevent it going ahead. Reigate & Banstead council leader, ~Joan Spiers~ said: ‘Our partnership is ready to roll. We do not want to be held up waiting for some country-wide, bureaucratic bidding process to be put in place.'
