Responding to the local government pay claim submission by public sector trade unions, Brian Baldwin, chair of the local government employers' side, said: ‘The key aspect of these forthcoming negotiations is to make sure that any settlement is affordable to the taxpayer and councils, while at the same time making sure local government continues to be an attractive place to work.'
