Pay bill reduced but battle goes on

According to a report published by the LGA and the Audit Commission this week, councils have managed to reduce their pay bill.

Councils have managed to significantly reduce their pay bill, in a bid to cut costs, according to a report published jointly by the Local Government Association and the Audit Commission this week.

With an annual pay bill of £30m, local government will need to cut staff costs if it is going to meet its average 26% budget cut.
