Scotland's pay dispute remains unresolved, after only one union backed the deal. Deadlock continues, despite Unison, the biggest public sector union, grudgingly accepting the two-year pay deal after balloting members. Both GMB and Unite members have rejected the offer, and officials are now considering further industrial action. GMB Scotland senior organiser, Alex McLuckie, said: ‘GMB members have spoken clearly, and this will be paramount when deciding our next steps.' Union stewards are due to meet on 24 November to discuss their next move, and all three unions will meet the following day to respond. Unison regional organiser and lead negotiator, Dougie Black, said: ‘This offer is not good, but circumstances have led to our members drawing this dispute to a close.' The latest offer of 3% for 2008 and 2.5% for 2009 was made by the employers at a meeting with the trade unions on 2 October. COSLA admitted it was disappointed the deal had still not been fully accepted. ‘The majority of our employees have accepted. We now await the joint trade union response. ‘Employers remain keen to get the money to employees as soon as they possibly can,' a spokesman said.
