Employees at Argyll and Bute Council have started industrial action over pay restructuring. Staff from all sections of the council's services are taking part in the strikes, in protest over the council's settlement under single status. The action, to be taken between 29 January and 7 February, will impact on everything, from home care, cleansing and cemeteries to schools, roads and ferries. Argyll and Bute Council's head of personnel, Danny Longwill, said: ‘We are disappointed that our continued commitment to deal with our obligations, in terms of equal pay and provide the fairest settlement possible within the funding resources available, has still not been accepted by Unite and Unison.'
