Southwark LBC has preserved Peckham's iconic ‘Wall of love' for posterity as a community rallying point by placing it in the foyer of a nearby library.
Originally affixed to a boarded up Poundland shop by a local theatre company with the simple message ‘We love Peckham because…', residents were handed coloured Post-it notes and pens to express what their community meant to them. Messages posted by the public included ‘…we are bigger than them', ‘we love our friends and parents,' and ‘we stand up for each other'. Council leader, Peter John, added his own message ‘because Peckham has a great future.'
