New local government minister Brandon Lewis has urged local authorities to engage in a wider range of shared services – including joining up pension schemes.

Speaking to The MJ ahead of the forthcoming Conservative Party conference in Birmingham, Mr Lewis said he wanted to see some local government pension schemes increase their influence – and to invest in infrastructure projects to boost the economy.
