Lewisham LBC paid tribute to former member, Ron Pepper, last week. The London borough's mayor, Steve Bullock, hosted a civic reception for the former councillor, who served the community for 25 years before moving to Canterbury, where he spent a further 12 years as a councillor for the city authority until his retirement in May. Mr Bullock said: ‘This council is indebted to Ron for making an indelible mark on the Lewisham landscape over his 25 years of service as deputy leader and chair of the housing and education committees.'
