Peterborough City Council has announced it plans to keep council tax rises to a maximum of 1.4% for the next three years. Council leader, John Peach, had previously promised the cap for two years, but has now vowed to extend it to 2010/11, keeping the tax well below any forecast for inflation. He said: ‘Keeping this year's council tax increase down to just 1.4%, we have been able to allocate an additional £5.4m to delivering improved frontline services for the benefit of residents.'
