Communities secretary, Eric Pickles, has echoed the Audit Commission and praised councils for their handling of huge spending cuts.
Mr Pickles told a County Councils Network dinner on 21 November that he had ‘three reasons' to thank them – for coping with a tough financial settlement; for dealing with the riots; and for responding to the need for economic growth.
