A ground-breaking partnership between authorities has stepped up a level with a new member. Hambleton DC has now joined the North Yorkshire Building Control Partnership, formed in 2001 by Selby and Ryedale councils, becoming the first of its kind. The pioneering shared service approach, recommended in the Lyons report, means anything built or demolished within the three local authority areas will be dealt with by the service based in Easingwold. The 23 members of staff, nine of whom have transferred from Hambleton, deal with building regulations, dangerous structures and demolitions.
