The LGA has published a list of 100 banned words, in a bid to make councils use plain English. The list of words has been published ahead of Plain English Day, and includes coterminosity, place-shaping and sustainable communities. ‘Plain English Day is a timely reminder for all of us that we cannot, must not and should not hide behind impenetrable jargon and phrases,' said LGA chairman, Sir Simon Milton. ‘Councils have a duty, not only to provide value for money to local people, but also tell people what they get for the tax they pay.'
