More than 1,000 senior figures, including representatives from national and local government gathered at Westminster Abbey this week to attend a memorial service for former deputy mayor of London and LGA chair, Sir Simon Milton.
Sir Simon, who also led Westminster City Council during his impressive career, died in April following a short illness. He was a hugely popular figure whose appeal often transcended party politics. Sir Simon's memorial service was attended by a cross-party selection of ministers and MPs.
