The Society of Local Authority Chief Executives (SOLACE) has called for a national agreement between ministers and councils on the intervention process for under-performing schools, in a report released on 19 April.
Filling the gap also calls for voluntary local ‘cooperation and intervention' protocols between all schools and their council. The report was a ‘call to action', SOLACE officials said. Councils should ‘remain committed to the pursuit of educational excellence' and maintain a ‘visible and proactive leadership in shaping the policy and implementation landscapes,' SOLACE concluded.
