Government plans to establish a national funding formula for schools could result in extra costs, disruption and significant funding losses in deprived areas, an independent analysis has indicated.

Using Department for Education data, the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) has calculated almost one in six schools could face funding cuts of 10% or more, but one in 10 would receive a corresponding cash boost, were the Government to pursue its ambitious proposals.
