A leading Welsh councillor has hit out at the Welsh Assembly's provisional finance settlement which, he claims, will lose his council £6m. Neath Port Talbot leader, Derek Vaughan, has claimed the 2.2% rise was ‘disappointing' in a market where inflation stands at 5%. He said: ‘It is another poor settlement for us, which will make it very difficult to achieve a balanced budget, especially as we are committed to limit council tax rises to lower single figures. ‘Obviously, the Welsh Assembly doesn't see the services provided by local authorities across Wales as a priority.'
