The Manchester ‘city-region' will receive new powers to work jointly and effectively on major transport, regeneration and economic development issues.
Ministers last week agreed the creation of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), which builds on the role of the Manchester city-region – the 10 local councils co-ordinating public services which cross authority boundaries.
