Since becoming Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Eric Pickles has obliged local authorities to change the way they communicate.

The so-called Town Hall Pravdas have been cut back and councils have been asked to be more open about how they spend people’s money – everything above £500 at first was to be put online, a figure now cut back to £250.
