Perhaps printed local newspapers are not quite as dead as many predict. In Bedfordshire one local newspaper group, The Beds on Sunday, has started experimenting with a new form of article - reporting what happens on Twitter & Facebook! This is not essentially new, but to have made a policy change which reflects & recognises the immediacy of new social media is interesting, particularly for local newspapers. An example of this is a Twitter exchange I had with the MP for Mid-Beds, Nadine Dorries. You do not immediately associate such an exchange with a newspaper article a few days later, but there is a certain logic to the progressive way in which media develops.Lessons for the way in which local authorities and in particular elected members operate?
