While much of local government has spent the past few days betting on the timing of the next local government reorganisation announcement or speculating about the contents of chancellor John Healey's first Budget, the business of running the country continues.
Now it seems Prime Minister Andy Burnham has privately committed to one of local government's big asks, to reform of the standards regime – Parliamentary time permitting, of course.
