Civil servants responsible for companies the Government owns shares in have lined up around 10 organisations for privatisation, it emerged this week.

Officials working in the Shareholder Executive, an agency of the Department for Business,Innovation and Skills, have disclosed Southampton-based map-makers Ordnance Survey, the Land Registry and weather agency the Met Office, located in Exeter, could be wholly or fully sold-off over the next five to eight years.
