Local Government Association chief executive Paul Coen has urged procurement officers to develop their roles to further benefit local economies. Mr Coen told the Society of Procurement Officers in Local Government (SOPO): ‘It (procurement) is still not actually seen as being at the heart of the strategic agenda of the council and re-addressing that perception is the challenge.
