Prospect plans strike ballot over pensions

Prospect, the second-largest civil service trade union, will ballot its members on whether to join TUC-led strikes over pensions.

Prospect, the second-largest civil service trade union, will ballot its members on whether to join TUC-led strikes over pensions scheduled for 30 November.

The union, which represents 34,000 professional and specialist civil service staff, is seeking a mandate for action in protest at the Government's plans to impose on staff a 3.2% increase in pensions contributions over three years from April 2012.
