Civil servants'trade union Prospect, is seeking assurances over job security,if the merger between BAE Systems and EADS goes ahead.

The specialist civil servants' trade union, Prospect, is seeking assurances over job security, if the planned merger between BAE Systems and European defence giant EADS goes ahead.

BAE employs around 34,000 people throughout the country while the German/French firm EADS has 17,000 UK staff – many producing wings for Airbus passenger jets.
