Public sector experts have called for a more strategic approach to the use of public audit – and have warned the Government not to ‘throw the baby out with the bath water'.
The latest pamphlet from chief executive association, SOLACE, suggests there is a need for further debate on the future of audit. Writing in the document, published this week, Lord Michael Bichard explains he has spent most of his career implementing public policy. ‘I was often frustrated by the inability of audit to question the quality of the policy itself,' he explains.
