The Scottish Government has announced the application for a controversial golf course by US tycoon Donald Trump will now go to a public local inquiry. Plans for the £1bn course were rejected by Aberdeenshire Council's infrastructure services committee last year, but Scottish ministers called in the application in December. ‘Given the nature of the application and the public interest, it is important that the process to examine the issues is as efficient, transparent and inclusive as possible,' said Scottish finance minister, John Swinney.
