The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has just published its assessment of adult social care services in Barking and Dagenham. We're hugely proud to say we've been rated Outstanding, one of only three councils in the country to receive a top rating.

It's a phenomenal achievement given our context. Barking and Dagenham is a richly diverse part of the UK with nine out of 10 schools Good or Outstanding. But it is also the 9th worst average rank borough for overall deprivation of 296 English local authorities, with  health inequalities associated with northern towns, high levels of complexity and population transients, and real term reductions in funding.
