Cabinet Office minister, Francis Maude, has set out plans to centralise Whitehall purchasing for common items such as stationary or laptops, in a move expected to generate an extra £3bn in government savings.

Cabinet Office minister, Francis Maude, has set out plans to centralise Whitehall purchasing for common items such as stationary or laptops, in a move expected to generate an extra £3bn in government savings.

Mr Maude confirmed on 3 June that his centralised ‘government procurement' team would in future contract for ‘widely-used goods and services for the whole of government at a single, better price'.
