More than three-quarters of local authorities intend making redundancies, according to this quarter's Labour Market Outlook from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and KPMG.
While the private sector will continue to generate jobs growth, two-thirds of public sector organisations will be looking to cut their workforces in the first quarter of 2011.
