The Queen's Speech unveiled the final legislation in the run up to the 2014 General Election. Find out what it means for local government.

In the Queen's speech this week – the final legislative programme before the 2015 general election – the main points for local government focused on the finances. 

In addition, there will be new legislation to tackle ‘excessive' redundancy payments for public servants, while the Government took the opportunity to spell out its progress so far on fiscal consolidation.
