Leaders have an extraordinary power in being able to instantly change others’ emotional states. Leaders can excite, inspire, motivate and, in some cases, create fear in the hearts of men (and women).
Over time, leaders can forget they have this power and either not use it or use it without thinking. Unthinking passing remarks can cause staff and managers to have sleepless nights and worry about their futures when throwaway comments are picked up, pondered over and mithered about into the small hours.
