Nominations are now open for the Northern Ireland Local Government Awards, 2009, supported by The MJ, to showcase excellence and celebrate the work of local government. Northern Ireland environment minister, Edwin Poots, said: ‘The sector is currently undergoing dramatic change and the dedication to modernising and improving local government is to be publicly recognised through presentation of these awards. ‘I encourage those in local government to put forward their nominations as soon as possible.' Entry forms are available from www.nilga.org. The deadline for completed nominations is 30 November 2009.
