South Oxfordshire DC, which is serviced by contractor, Biffa, has become the first council in the country to achieve a 70% recycling, reuse and composting rate.
According to figures from website www.letsrecycle.com, the authority recycled 70.56% of its waste in the year to March. ‘This outstanding result reflects how the council, contractor and residents worked together to add more than 50% to the council's recycling and composting rate within 18 months of a new service launch,' said Biffa municipal director, Pete Dickson.
