Red tape slashed as regulation reforms continue to be enforced

The Government lowers the age people can buy Christmas crackers in a measure designed to help businesses and boost the economy.

The Government has lowered the legal age people can buy Christmas crackers from 16 to 12 in one of a series of measures designed to help businesses and boost the economy, while also reducing red tape.

Regulations specifying how much heavy metal can be used in pencils and on the sale of goods have also been abolished.'As well as cutting the overall burden of regulation, we are sharpening up how rules are enforced,' said business minister, Michael Fallon.'We'll make sure regulation works in the public interest without stifling law-abiding firms and hampering growth.'
