The new Homes and Communities Agency set up by the Government to help deliver three million new homes by 2020 is to have a ‘key regeneration role'. It will bring together responsibility for land and money to deliver new housing, community facilities and infrastructure, and will also work with local councils on some of England's 10 new eco towns. Housing minister, Yvette Cooper, announced last week that the HCA would also have ‘operational responsibility' for the delivery of major housing and regeneration projects, including Thames Gateway. ‘This important new agency will be able to work closely with local councils to support them in their wide range of housing, regeneration and community work', said Ms Cooper.
