Changes already implemented to the council tax system will not be extended to England, officials have pledged. The Department for Communities and Local Government denied claims ministers were planning a property charge based on a scheme implemented in Denmark and confirmed the revaluation of properties in England was still on hold. A spokesman said: ‘This is nothing more than erroneous mischief making. As everyone knows, there are no plans whatsoever to introduce a property tax or carry out a revaluation as we have made clear time and time again.'
